On August 22, 2017, at 10:38 a.m. the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a two vehicle crash on STH 11 at CTH Z (west intersection) in Jamestown Township. The investigation shows a vehicle driven by Jean McSweeney, age 87 of rural Hazel Green, was stopped at CTH Z when she entered the intersection in front of a vehicle that was traveling east on STH 11. The eastbound vehicle, driven by Tonya Thul, age 43 of Peosta, IA, had 3 occupants, all of which had minor or no injuries. Ms. McSweeney had to be extricated from her
vehicle and was then transported to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation. Assisting at the accident scene was Dickeyville EMS, Jamestown Fire and First Responders, Hazel Green Fire Department and EMS, Kieler Service Center and Wenzel's Towing.

On August 25, 2017 at 10:30am, Flora Barker, age 89 of Millville, was traveling west on Kussmaul Rd in Millville Township, when she lost control on the gravel road of her 2008 Ford Fusion. Barker entered the north ditch and traveling down a steep ditch, before coming to rest in a creek. Barker was assisted from the vehicle by a near by resident who heard the crash. Barker's vehicle received minor damage in the crash and she was wearing her seat belt. No charges filed in this matter. Assisting the Sheriff's Office at the scene was B&M's Towing and the
Millville Township Patrolman.

Physical Altercation leads to arrest
On 8-25-17 at approximately 11:45 a.m., a deputy responded to a residence in Marion Township for a physical dispute. After the investigation, it was found that Joel Salazar, age 21 of Baraboo, got into an argument with an 18 year old woman of rural Boscobel, over their son. Joel pushed the female and her female roommate, age 20 of Boscobel. Joel and Fernando Sandoval, age 20 of Baraboo, also took a puppy belonging to the 18 year old female. Joel and Fernando were located by the Baraboo Police Department and were arrested. The puppy was also located unharmed and returned to the owner. Joel is being charged with 2 counts of disorderly conduct and theft of a domestic animal. Fernando is being charged with theft of a domestic animal. Theft of a domestic animal is a Felony.

One Vehicle Crash
On August 27, 2017 at 5:49 pm, Mikael Nielsen, age 35 of Dubuque, was traveling west on Stage Rd in Potosi Township, when he lost control in his 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Nielsen entered the south ditch before striking a tree. After striking the first tree, the vehicle spun out of control and struck another tree and came to a rest facing east. Nielsen's vehicle received disabling damage and him along with his passenger,
Abigayle Hoerner, age 28 of Iowa City, IA, were wearing their seat belts. Minor injuries were reported, but no EMS responded. No charges filed in this matter. Assisting the Sheriff's Office at the scene was Donnie's Towing and Tire.

2 Vehicle Crash
On August 28, 2017 at 2:59 pm, Grant County Sheriff's Office was made aware of a two vehicle crash on Cty O near the intersection of Hwy 151, in Platteville Township. Brian Nelis, age 56, of Cassville was traveling southbound on Hwy 151 in his 1999 Chevrolet Blazer when he attempted to turn westbound onto Cty O and lost control of his vehicle. Nelis struck a 2007 Toyota Tundra, driven by Ezequiel Cortes, age 37,
of West Allis who was stopped at the stop sign on Cty O. Both parties were wearing their seat belts and no injuries were reported. Both vehicles suffered moderate damage and were driven from the scene. Nelis was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.
