On July 10th, 2017 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in the city of Elgin and was requested to complete a welfare check for an individual named Scott William Dilley age, 47 of Elgin. An investigation revealed that Dilley, who is required to register on the sex offender registry had failed to report a change in his employment to the state sex offender registry for months. Dilley has been charged with Failure to comply with sex offender registry an aggravated misdemeanor. An arrest warrant has been issued and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance with locating Dilley. On July 9th, 2017 at approximately 11:53 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an assault that took place at Starmont School parking lot by two contractors working on the Track. Upon completing an investigation it was discovered that Jake Adkins, age 31 of Marshalltown had assaulted Douglas Parades age, 55 of Perry who had been employed by  for Fisher Tracks a company that had been hired to repair the track for Starmont School. Parades sustained major injuries as a result of the assault and had been transported by ambulance to the Manchester Hospital and a short time later was flown by helicopter to University of Iowa Hospital. The incident remains under investigation and criminal charges are pending. 

On 7-12-17, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juaacklynn Loreal Mcgee, 32 of Waterloo, for driving while suspended and no proof of insurance, both simple misdemeanors.  Mcgee was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where she awaits initial appearance



On 7-13-17, at approximately 6:55 AM, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received information of a car deer accident near 190th St. and M Avenue.  It was found that Gary Schlawin, 39 of Elgin, was travelling west bound on 190th St., when a deer came into the roadway striking his vehicle.  No injuries were sustained and damage to the 2007 Dodge Caliber was estimated at $7,000.
