Dairy MeetingBy: News Release
Mar 3rd, 2017
The annual meeting of the Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Iowa’s Dairy Center in Calmar. Registration will begin at 10 a.m.
The events for the day start at 10:30 a.m. and include a presentation from Melissa O’Rourke, ISU Extension & Outreach Farm Management Specialist, discussing managing employer and employee expectations on the dairy farm. Melissa will outline considerations for hiring and getting new employees off to a good start with a goal to better employee motivation and retention. The Farm Babe, Michelle Miller, will also explain her thoughts on how to better communicate the story of agriculture with the general public. Michelle was once a big city girl who moved to rural Iowa for love. Once there, she learned that her original thoughts of modern agriculture were very inaccurate and now enjoys debunking agricultural myths. She is a Facebook sensation with over 50,000 followers.
The annual meeting will begin after lunch and includes the election of officers. In addition, there will be displays from leading dairy industry businesses that support the Dairy Foundation.
Current members and anyone interested in learning about the Dairy Foundation are invited to attend; however, an RSVP is requested for lunch. If you have questions about becoming a member, please contact Megan at (563) 534-9957, ext. 107, or email email@example.com.
Iowa’s Dairy Center is supported by the Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation, a non-profit, grassroots organization formed to prepare young men and women to operate dairy farms, provide ongoing education for existing dairy farmers and serve as a public educational facility. The center includes an educational facility with classrooms and labs, a milking parlor, Lely robots, freestall barn and calf barn. For more information, visit www.iowadairycenter.com.
