The Edgewood-Colesburg School Board held their reorginizational meeting.  Dan VanTiecher was selected as Board President and Tammy Kirby as Vice-President.
The Board approved the first right to purchase property just west of the Edgewood School for 40-thousand.
Jenny Lange resigned as Assistant Cross Country Coach.

The Board of Directors of the Edgewood-Colesburg Community School District met for their  annual meeting in the High School Library, on Monday, November 16, 2020. President Schilling called  the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. 

 Directors present: Robert Schilling, Matt Elliot-via zoom, Dan Venteicher, Tammy Kirby, & Jeff  Hoeger. 

 Directors absent: None. 

 Also Present: Superintendent Rob Busch, Principal Dawn Voss, Principal Patty Briggs, and Board  Secretary Melissa Conner. 

 Visitors: LuAnn Bolsinger, Mary Ann Every, Carson Kirby, Julie Miller, Maddy Streicher, Carston  Calderwood, Alex Hanna, & Nic Stelken. 

 President Schilling welcomed visitors. 

 Director Venteicher moved to approve the agenda. Director Kirby seconded the movement.  Motion Carried 5-0. 

The Board examined the 2019-2020 financial accounting books and Director Hoeger moved to  approve them. Director Kirby seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Election of officers: 

Director Schilling nominated Dan Venteicher for president.

Director Hoeger moved the second of routine motions will not be required to bring a motion to  vote, we will follow Robert’s Rule of Order, and the public must be aware they need to be placed on the

agenda, if they wish to speak and will need to follow the usual chain of command. Consent agenda will  be adopted at the end of each meeting. Director Elliot seconded the movement. Motion carried 5-0. 

Director Schilling moved to set the meeting dates and times as the third Monday of each month  at 6:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Board Room, except the September December, & March meetings which  will be held in the Colesburg Media Center. Director Kirby seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Kirby moved to appoint Ahlers’ Law Firm for Board and Administration legal counsel for  the 2020-2021 school year. Director Hoeger seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0. 

Director Schilling moved to approve Jeff Hoeger to the Delaware County Conference Board and  Matt Elliot to the Clayton County Conference Board. Director Kirby seconded the movement. Motion  Carried 5-0. 

Director Kirby moved to appoint Melissa Conner as the Board Secretary. Director Schilling  seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Kirby moved to appoint Joyce Piorkowski as the Board Treasurer. Director Schilling  seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

 With no further business to come before the board for consideration at this time, Director  Hoeger moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:12 p.m. Director Kirby seconded the movement. Motion  Carried 5-0.

The High School Student Council presented their monthly report. 

New Business: 

The Board discussed building projects. 

Diane Meyer gave a library remodel update. 

Director Schilling moved to trade buses with the Central Community School district with no cash  changing hands, a 90 day warranty on each bus, with repairs over $1000.00 paid 50/50 by each school  district during the 90 days. Director Elliot seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Elliot moved to approve the second reading of board policies: 409.1-409.3R2, 409.4- 409.8, 414-414.8, 501.9, 501.9E1, 601.2, 604.11, 907, & 907.R1. With adding that the Superintendent  will facilitate the decision on class to class and will consult with the Board President on a building by  building, in policy 907. Director Hoeger seconded the movement. Motion carried 5-0. 

Director Schilling moved to approve the use of a signature stamp for Board President. Director  Kirby seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

The Board discussed the Early Separation Incentive. 

Director Elliot moved to approve the snow removal bid from Tibbott Construction for $100 per  hour. Director Schilling seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

The Board discussed the Return to Learn Plan. 

Director Hoeger moved to approve the Student Teaching/Field Experience Agreement with  William Penn University. Director Schilling seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Schilling moved to approve the request for Allowable growth for late open enrollment  students in the amount of $13,760.00. Director Kirby seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Kirby moved to approve the SIAC members list. Director Hoeger seconded the  movement. Motion Carried 5-0.

REGULAR MEETING November 16, 2020 

First reading of board policies: 700-704.3 duly noted. 

Director Hoeger moved to approve the resolution  

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE EDGEWOOD COLESBURG COMMUNITY  SCHOOL DISTRICT: 

Section 1. That the District shall acquire a right of first offer in the real property described herein  in exchange for the payment of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000).  

Section 2. The right of first offer shall be in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. Section 3. The Board President, Secretary, Superintendent, and administrative officers of the  District are authorized to take all actions necessary to complete the above-described transaction,  including execution of ancillary documents. 

Section 4. The real property is locally known as 501 W. Union Street, Edgewood, IA 52042 and is  legally described as follows: 

A tract of land in the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 35, Township 91  North, Range 5, West of the 5th P.M. in Clayton County, Iowa, described as: Commencing at a point on  the South line of said Section 35 a distance of 546.5 feet East of the Southwest corner of said Section,  thence North 170 feet on a line parallel with the West line of said Section 35, thence West 98 feet on a  line parallel with the South line of said Section 35, thence South 170 feet on a line parallel with the West  line of said Section 35, to the South line of said Section 35, thence East along the South line of said  Section 35 to the point of beginning. 

Director Kirby seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Schilling moved to approve the US Cellular agreement for Thirty-Five hot spots. Director  Elliot seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Elliot moved to approve allowing Paraprofessionals to only have a GED or High School  Diploma. Director Hoeger seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Schilling moved to approve the request for bids for the track. Director Kirby seconded  the movement. Motion Carried 5-0. 

Director Kirby moved to approve the IXL Learning Agreement for a yearly subscription of  $1,050.00. Director Hoeger seconded the movement. Motion Carried 5-0.

REGULAR MEETING November 16, 2020 

Principal Briggs: We finally got access to our Benchmark Literacy online. The Special Ed team is  going to meet on PLC nights to discuss certain topics. We started doing fidelity checks. 

Principa Discussed the fidelity check process & results.  

Principal Voss: The play was outstanding. Great job to the production team. 

Superintendent Busch: Shout out to the staff & building Principals. I appreciate all the help  keeping things going.  

Director Schilling: I had conversations with other schools about how we are still face to face  learning. Shout out to all the employees for sticking with it. The entrance doors look great. 

Director Elliot: Thank you to everyone for everything they do, it is truly appreciated. 

Director Kirby: Congratulations to Mr. Calderwood, the cast, & crew for a great production.  Many compliments on the new camera system for streaming the games. 

Director Hoeger: Thank you to the staff. You are all doing a wonderful job. The students were  very respectful doing the masonry work. 

Director Venteicher: Sentiments to staff. The parents are really happy with the work they are  putting in. Honored to be nominated as Board President. I hope I can do a good job & look forward to  working with everyone.
