Covid Teslting

The Crawford County Public Health Department will be holding COVID-19 testing events twice a week beginning on September 14, 2020.  Testing will be Mondays, 11 a.m. – 12 noon and Fridays, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Crawford County Administration Building parking lot, 225 N. Beaumont Rd. Prairie du Chien, WI 53821. These testing events are primarily for Crawford County residents that do not have insurance, are under-insured, or do not have a primary care provider.  “This is an attempt to take away barriers for our residents to get a COVID-19 test if they are experiencing symptoms.”, says Riniker.

All tests must be scheduled in advance.  Call the Crawford County Public Health Department at 608-326-0229 to schedule an appointment.  There is no cost to participate.  The Crawford County Public Health staff will follow-up on results of all testing within 3-5 days post the event.

These tests are open to all Crawford County residents (age 5 and older) who are experiencing one or more symptoms of COVID-19 and for asymptomatic individuals who have had close contact with a positive case, per Public Health recommendation.  Symptoms of COVID-19 can be mild and include:

  • Fever

  • Cough

  • Shortness of Breath

  • Chills

  • Muscle aches/pain

  • Headache

  • Sore throat

  • New loss of taste and/or smell

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Abdominal Pain

  • Diarrhea

  • Fatigue

  • Runny Nose

There is a limited number of tests that can be completed each day.  Therefore, the Public Health Department will triage patients when scheduling for appointments to assure the most at-risk patients are receiving a test.

This is only one testing opportunity in our county, we have wonderful health care facilities that continue to offer testing as well as area community testing.  A combination of facilities offering tests ensures that anyone that needs a test can get a test.
