Car vs. guard rail crash

On August 28, 2020 at approximately 4:40 PM Briley Fenner, age 22 of Fond Du Lac, WI, was traveling North on Hwy 151 near mile marker 9 in her 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. Heavy rain caused minimal visibility and wet roadways. Fenner's Cobalt began to hydro plane. Fenner lost control of the Cobalt causing it to crash into a guard rail on the East side of the roadway. The Cobalt completed a 180 degree turn and came to rest facing southbound against the guard rail. Fenner was wearing her seat belt and was not injured in the crash. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Donnies Tire and Tow, Dickeyville.

Med Flight for Vehicle Crash 

On August 30, 2020 at approximately 6:30 am the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call from an individual with very, very poor cell reception. Dispatchers were able to make out that the subject had been involved in a crash approximately 6 hours prior, was injured, and was not sure where he was. The call was then lost and dispatchers were not able to call back. A search and rescue was organized and after approximately an hour and a half of searching the roads in the Beetown and Cassville area the crash scene was located on Hwy 81 near Cty Y in the Township of Cassville. Dustin Hampton, age 35 from rural Cassville, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 81 in his 1999 Ford Explorer when the vehicle left the roadway on the south side of the road. The vehicle went down an embankment, struck several large rocks, several trees, and overturned end over end several times. Speed and driver condition are suspected factors in the crash. Hampton not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. A med-flight landing zone was established at the intersection of Hwy 81 and Cty Y and Hampton was flown to UW Hospital in Madison due to his injuries. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted in this matter by the Cassville Fire Department, the Lancaster Fire Department, Cassville EMS, and Med-Flight. The vehicle was removed from the scene by B&M Towing of Bloomington. The crash is still under investigation.

MED FLIGHT LANDS AT THE SCENE OF A MOTORCYCLE VS DEER

On August 30, 2020 at approximately 12:55 P.M. the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motorcycle versus deer crash, on Hwy 133 near Cty C in the township of Woodman. The crash investigation showed Tony Coy, 54 of Montfort, was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson, south on Hwy 133, when he struck a deer that ran out in front of him. Mr. Coy lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. Mr. Coy's injures were critical and Med Flight was summoned to the scene, with the Mount Hope Fire Department preparing a land zone on Cty C. Boscobel EMS and Woodman First Responders were on scene and treated Mr. Coy until his care was turned over to the Med Flight crew. Mr. Coy was not wearing a helmet. Assisting at the scene was the Boscobel Police and EMS, Woodman First Responders, Mount Hope Fire Department, Med Flight crew from UW-Madison Hospitals, and Terry's Tire of Boscobel. This crash remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
