Fire Fatality

Lynxville, WI - On 8-28-20 at 2:07 a.m. the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a call for a house fire on Spring St in the Village of Lynxville. The fire was reported by a neighbor in the area and was described as fully engulfed. The fire then spread to a nearby building and both buildings became fully engulfed.
   During the fire investigation the remains of a deceased badly burned body was found. The Wisconsin Fire Marshall Office was contacted and a Fire investigator will be responding to the scene.  Highway 35 was shut down for approximately 4 hours due to the amount of smoke and fire near the highway. Identification of the victim has not been made at this time.  The cause of the fire has not yet been identified.  This case still remains under investigation.
   Assisting on scene was Seneca Fire, Seneca First Responders, Eastman Fire, Ferryville Fire, Gays Mills Fire, Tri State Regional Ambulance, Alliant Energy, Wisconsin State Fire Marshal, Crawford County Coroner.
