On 11-24-19, at approximately 2:45 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a suspicious person attempting to gain access to an out building at a residence in Wadena.  Fayette County Sheriff Deputies responded to the disturbance and located the female suspect.  After an investigation, Sharnel Ann Voshell, 37 of Postville, was taken into custody for interference with official acts and public intoxication, both simple misdemeanors.  Voshell was transported to Fayette County Jail, where she is being held until initial appearance. 


On 11/19/19 at 6:21 AM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took  two 911 calls reporting a vehicle in the ditch that struck a tree on Juniper Rd south of Great River Rd.  An investigation determined that Trevor James Teslow age 21 from West Union was operating a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Juniper Rd when he lost control due to road conditions.  The vehicle left the roadway, entered the east ditch and struck a tree. Teslow was transported by Tri State Ambulance to Palmer Hospital  in West Union to be treated for minor injuries. The vehicle is considered a total loss.  The accident remains under investigation. On 11-23-19, at approximately 6:00 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s office took a report of a car deer accident in the 4900 Block of Palace Rd, just north of Oelwein IA.  When arriving on scene, it was found that Frederick George Engler, 55 of Hawkeye IA, was southbound on Palace Rd. when a deer came into the roadway causing a collision. No injuries were sustained, and damage to the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander was estimated at $4,000. 


On 11/24/19 at approx. 12:00 AM a Fayette County Deputy conducted a traffic stop and upon further investigation Jacob Robert Eitel, age 38 of Hawkeye, was arrested and charged with Operating while Intoxicated 1st Offense, Open container, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Offense, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Eitel was transported to the Fayette County Jail and awaits an initial appearance.


On 11-24-19 at approx. 12:56 AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle in the ditch  in the 11000 block of Highway 93.  Upon investigation it was determined that Alexander Wallace 23 of Hawkeye was operating his 2005 Ford Ranger when due to a vehicle malfunction and adverse road conditions he lost control causing his vehicle to enter the south ditch. The vehicle sustained minor damage and there were no injuries. However Wallace was arrested and charged with Possession of a controlled substance. He is being held at the Fayette County Jail awaiting an initial appearance.
