On November 5, 2019, at approximately05:37am the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle vs deer accident on Highway 150 near Railroad Street in West Union, IA. After further investigation, it was determined that Brandon Levi Strum, age 32 of Swaledale, was traveling north bound in a 2017 Chevrolet Express G2500 when he struck a deer in the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. The Chevrolet received approximately $5000 in damage.

 On 11/6/19 at 7:56 AM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy 18 approximately 1 1/2 miles west of West Union. An investigation that a 14 yr old from Hawkeye  was operating a 2002 Chevy Silverado eastbound on Hwy 18 when they lost control of the vehicle due to weather conditions. The vehicle crossed the center line, struck a mailbox , and  entered the north side where it overturned onto its top.  The driver was not injured and the vehicle is considered a total loss. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Tri State Ambulance.  The incident remains under investigation. (photo)

On 11-5-19, at approximately 6:00PM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a call of a car vs cow accident in the 7000 Block of Hwy 187, just south of Arlington. Fayette County Sheriff Deputies arrived on scene and  upon investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Shelly Hutchinson 41 of Oelwein was north bound on 187 when a cow was in the roadway and the collision took place.  No injuries were reported and damage to Hutchinson's 2010 Chevy Impala was considered a total loss.   This accident remains under investigations

On 11-6-19, at approximately 6:00 PM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of an accident near the intersection of Hwy 187 and F Avenue just north of Arlington.  Fayette County Sheriff Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation.  It was found that Melinda Hope Potter, 24 of Strawberry Point, was west bound on Hwy 187 when due to weather conditions, she lost control, and rolled into the ditch.  No injuries were sustained and damage to Potter's 2008 Honda Civic was considered a total loss.  The incident remains under investigation.
