2 Vehicle Accident without injuries 

On August 1, 2019 at approximately 1:14 PM Martin Bastress, age 48 of Harlan, IA, was traveling West on Highway 11 near the intersection of County Highway Z, Jamestown Township in a 2019 Toyota Corolla. Bastress stopped in the lane of traffic for a vehicle turning into a driveway south off Highway 11. While Bastress was waiting for the vehicle to turn off the roadway Janet Vosberg, age 77 of Hazel Green, WI, who was also traveling West on Highway 11 in her 2016 Jeep Cherokee, failed to see the Toyota stopped in the roadway. Bastress was able to see the Cherokee in his rear view mirror and was able to move the Corolla partially into the eastbound lane of traffic. Vosberg's Cherokee could not completely avoid the Corolla and struck the back, passenger side of the Corolla. Vosberg then left the north side of the roadway striking a mailbox and overturning 2 times. Both Bastress and Vosberg were wearing seat belts and were uninjured in the crash. Vosberg was cited for inattentive driving. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Jamestown First Responders, Dickeyville EMS, Jamestown Fire Department, Munyons Ioco (Cuba City), and Donnies Tire and Tow (Dickeyville). 

Speeding violations leads to OWI Arrest 

On 08/01/19, a Grant County Sheriff's Deputy observed a vehicle traveling 101 mph on Hwy 151 southbound. The deputy stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Mariah Ehmcke, 22, of Platteville. While speaking with Mariah, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from Mariah's 2007 Toyota Camry convertible. Mariah stated she was smoking marijuana while driving down the road. Mariah was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense. Mariah was booked into the Grant County Jail and released to a responsible party. 

Hit and Run leads to citations 

On 8-2-19 at approximately 2:30 a.m., a vehicle, possibly a white or silver Dodge late 90's to early 2000's, was doing burnouts in Beetown at the intersection of HWY 81 and CTH U. The vehicle spun around striking a curb and a 2007 Pontiac that was legally parked. The offending vehicle fled the scene. The Pontiac sustained moderate passenger side damage. 

On 8-2-19 later in the morning, Zachary Clauer, 22 of Cassville, reported to the Sheriff Office that he was driving his 2000 Dodge Ram and struck another vehicle in Beetown. Zachary was doing burnouts in the intersection around 2:30 a.m. and struck the curb and the Pontiac. Zachary's truck sustained minor damage. Zachary was cited for hit and run to an unoccupied vehicle, Failure to report an accident, and operating without insurance. 

Motorcycle Crash 

On August 3, 2019 at 9:27 PM the Grant County Dispatch center received a 911 call of a single motorcycle crash, with injuries on Airport Road, in Ellenboro Township. Ronald Talley, age 68 of Lancaster, was operating a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Airport Road when he failed to maintain control and drove onto the shoulder causing the motorcycle to crash into the ditch. Ronald was transported by Lancaster EMS due to his significant facial injuries. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Lancaster EMS, Lancaster Fire Department, and Arrow Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
