One Vehicle Crash

On July 26, 2019 at about 6:47 PM the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call about a one vehicle crash on Cty Z near Louisburg Rd that had occurred around 2:00 PM the same day. The investigating deputy learned that Shawn Dietzel, 22, of Dickeyville, was driving his 2005 Red Dodge Ram 2500 going south on Cty Z, south of Louisburg Rd. Shawn said that there was a black pickup (possibly a Chevy 1⁄2 ton) that was northbound in the "s-curve" that was completely in the southbound lane of travel. Shawn said that he was about to enter the "s-curve" going south when the truck approached him and he had to swerve to the right, entering the ditch, to avoid a head-on collision with the truck. Shawn said that he drove through the ditch for some way and also struck a road sign there. He was able to drive out of the ditch. He said that he tried to find the truck to get a plate number but he was not able to.

The investigating deputy spoke with an employee at the farm right where the crash happened. This witness said that he heard tires squealing and that he saw the black truck going north.

Shawn was uninjured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt. The truck sustained moderate damage to the passenger side "b-pillar" and the bottom below the passenger door.

The other truck has not yet been identified.
