Crawford Accident

On July 22, 2019, at 3:27pm the Crawford County Communications Center received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the US Highway 18 bridge, located in the township of Prairie du Chien.
Benjamin Prostine, age 30, of Soldiers Grove was operating a 2010 Ford Transit Van eastbound on US Hwy 18. Prostine was slowing to a stop due to traffic backed up on Us Hwy 18. At the same time, a 2004 Chevy Impala being driven by Tenisha Eick, age 24, of Prairie du Chien was also eastbound behind Prostine’s vehicle. Eick’s vehicle rear-ended Prostine’s vehicle.
Eick was transported to Crossing Rivers Hospital for treatment of her injuries by Tri-State EMS. Prostine claimed no injuries from the crash.
Due to traffic being backed up as a result of this crash. A second rear-end crash occurred in the same location. This crash resulted in minor damage and no injuries. The US Hwy 18 bridge was closed down for an estimated 20 minutes while the two crashes were being investigated.
Assisting on scene was the Rural Bridgeport/Prairie du Chien Township Fire Department, Tri-State Regional EMS, Prairie du Chien Police Department, Crawford County Highway Dept. and Milo’s Towing.
