Airplane Crash

On June 20, 2019 at 11:08 a.m. the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Elkader Airport located at 21193 Grape Rd. for a report of an airplane crash.  Upon arrival it was determined the pilot, sixty-two (62) year old Mark Willam Koehn, of Elkader, was uninjured and had freed himself from the wreckage. Koehn was operating his 1966 single engine Cessna while attempting to land when the crash occurred.  The Sheriff’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation and provided their findings to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Elkader Fire Department.
