Traffic complaint results in OWI arrest

On June 5th at approximately 9:42 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received several calls of a vehicle traveling west on Hwy 133 from Blue River to Boscobel. The vehicle was swerving all over the road and running vehicles off the roadway. A Grant County Deputy located the vehicle and observed it driving down the left side of the highway. The Deputy was able to get the vehicle stopped before it caused a crash. Tiffany Weiland, age 26 of Gotham WI, was driving her 2014 Chevrolet Cruz. After a brief investigation Weiland was arrested for OWI 1st offense. Weiland was cited for OWI 1st and operating left of Center. Grant County was assisted on scene by the Boscobel Police Department.


On June 8, 2019 at 12:35 P.M., Alice Westgard (58 of Monroe), was driving her 2010 Jeep Liberty and pulling a 2019 Jayco Camper, east on Hwy 18 in the Village of Montfort. Westgard was turning south onto Hwy 80, when Elizabeth Brokkmann, 25 of Patch Grove, was looking at her GPS on her cell phone and didn't see Westgard slowing to make a right turn. Brokkmann struck the rear end of the camper and caused moderate damage to Brokkmann's 2007 Chevy Equinox and the camper. Brokkmann was cited for Inattentive Driving. All parties involved were evaluated by Montfort EMS at the scene.

Daniel Reynolds, 66 of Monroe, was a passenger in the Westgard vehicle.

All parties involved were wearing seat belts.

The US Marshals along with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry Program and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office conducted a residence verification operation for registered sex offenders.  On May 28th and 29th deputies checked the addresses of 81 registered sex offenders in Grant County.  Six were found to be non-compliant. The Sex Offender Registry Program Specialist will investigate and make recommendations to the district attorney as necessary.

This initiative is part of the working relationship between the US Marshals Sex Offender Investigations Branch and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registration Program which monitors all 24,187 Wisconsin Sex Offenders.  The Wisconsin Department of Corrections maintains a database for the general public at
