Luana City Council Minutes of May 2, 2019

Meeting at the Luana City Hall

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Brenda Boddicker, Paul Miller, Todd Olson and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: None.

Mayor Jerry Schroeder called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of April meeting were reviewed and approved upon a motion by Boddicker, second by Miller carried unanimously.

Baade motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $62,515.72, Miller second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled $51,561.58. Radloff-Schneider motioned to pass Res. 5-19 T.O.F, Boddicker second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

The Mayor announced that this was the time and place for the public hearing and meeting on the matter of amending the 2019 Budget at 7:10 pm. The Mayor then asked the Administrator whether any written objections had been filed by any City resident or property owner to the proposal. The Administrator advised the Mayor and the Council that no written objections had been filed. The Mayor then called for oral objections to the proposal and none were made. Whereupon, the Mayor declared the time for receiving oral and written objections to be closed. Miller motioned to adopt amended 2019 Budget, Boddicker second, carried unanimously. Resolution 5.1-2019 signed.

Council reviewed bids for new roof on City Hall for both flat roof of building and pitched roof of building. Olson motioned to accept bid from KJ roofing for flat rubber roof in the amount of $5,300, Baade second, carried unanimously. Miller motioned to accept bid from Ashbacher Building Supplies for pitched asphalt roof in the amount of $4,680, Olson second, carried unanimously.

Boddicker motioned to accept bid from Vorwald Enterprises for replacement of specific fire hydrants in the amount of $13,462.00, Baade second, carried unanimously.

Baade motioned to approve contract for sale of goods with Sentry Siren for new warning siren system, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously.

Council discussed dead tree removal needed within the city. Bids received were reviewed. Miller motioned to proceed with dead tree removal as needed using services from Hangartner Tree Service in the amount of $600.00, Olson second, carried unanimously.

Council reviewed bids for seal coating patches for Bronson Street, Alleyways, X-16 and Old Hwy 18. Radloff-Schneider motioned to accept bid from Blacktop Services for said repairs, in the amount of $13,200, Baade second, carried unanimously.

Council discussed needed speed limit sign be placed on X-16. PWS, Kleinow will post new sign.

Next regular Council meeting will be held June 6, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

Mayor Schroeder adjourned the meeting at 8:05 pm.
