2 Vehicle Crash

On April 4, 2019 at approximately 10:00 AM Josue Vega, age 30 of Cuba City, was traveling south on Hwy 80 near the intersection of Louisburg Road in his 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Vega slowed his Jeep due to a Grant County Highway Department truck that was working in the northbound lane of Hwy 80. While Vega slowed his Jeep Kim Medley, age 61 of Platteville, was also traveling south on Hwy 80 in her 2005 Ford Focus failed to brake when Vega who was traveling in front of her slowed his Jeep. Medley crashed into the back of the Jeep causing disabling damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries in the crash and all occupants were wearing safety belt. Medley was cited for inattentive driving. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Hazel Green EMS, Hazel Green Fire, Hazel Green Police Department and Munyon's Ioco from Cuba City.

Out of Control Juvenile 

On April 4, just after 9:00 pm, the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of an out of control 15 year old juvenile in Fennimore Township. While law enforcement was en-route to the scene, information was gathered that the juvenile had armed himself with a handgun and was discharging it toward random targets in the area of the residence. After a period of time, law enforcement was able to take the juvenile into protective custody after the use of a less-lethal (bean bag) shotgun. The juvenile was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and later transferred to a mental health facility. This incident is under further investigation. Assisting the Sheriff's Office during this incident was Fennimore Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, Southwest Emergency Response Team, Fennimore Fire DepartmentRescue Task Force, and Fennimore EMS.
