Suspicious vehicle leads to meth arrest 

On 3/28/19 at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in a field on Whitcomb Ln. A deputy made contact with Ritchie Arellano, 30, of Utah. Arellano told the deputy he was trying to take a short cut when he became stuck in the field, on a dead end road. Due to signs of drug use, and open intoxicants in the vehicle an investigation ensued. Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle and Arellano admitted to ingesting the drug prior to driving. Arellano was placed under arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine and Operating with a Restricted Controlled Substance. He was also cited for Operating without a Valid License. Arellano was transported to Grant Regional Health Center for a blood draw and then booked into the Grant County Jail. Lancaster Police Department and Arrow Towing, of Lancaster, assisted at the scene. 

Car Swerves to Miss Deer 

On April 1, 2019 at approximately 5:39 a.m., a white Oldsmobile Intrigue, driven by Trevor Veech, age 26 of Lancaster, was traveling south on State Highway 35 when a deer ran into the roadway and Veech swerved to miss striking the deer, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and travel into the ditch on the east side of the roadway.
