On February 8, 2019, at approximately 04:37am the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a vehicle in the ditch on W Avenue near 78th Street; approximately 5 miles west of Westgate. After further investigation, it was determined that Charles David Sawyer, age 59 of Lawler, was driving a Black 2004 Chevrolet Colorado Truck south bound when lost control due to weather conditions and went into the ditch after striking a sign and a fence. No injuries were reported. The Chevrolet received approximately $1500 in damage. This accident remains under investigation.

 

On February 9th, 2019 at approximately 6:02 PM Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 300 block of Almira Street in Elgin in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival an investigation was conducted and Wade Alexander Guyer, age 28 of Elgin was charged with Disorderly Conduct (simple misdemeanor), Public Intoxication (simple misdemeanor), and Criminal Trespass (simple misdemeanor). Ethan Grant Guyer Jr. age, 53 of Elgin was charged with Disorderly Conduct (simple misdemeanor), and Criminal Trespass (simple misdemeanor). The investigation remains ongoing and more charges could be filed at a later time.

 

On February 7th, 2019 at approximately 4:46 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near the area of V62 and 40th Street. Upon arrival the vehicle was found unoccupied. Upon conducting an investigation, it was discovered that Jackson J. Nading age, 18 of Dunkerton, IA was traveling Northbound when he lost control of his 1995 Ford Explorer, causing him to travel into the West ditch, where the vehicle then rolled onto its top. Minor injuries and damages were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

On February 7th, 2019 at approximately 8:09 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near the area of Highway Three and S Avenue. Upon arrival it was discovered that Troy Frederick age, 48 of Strawberry Point, IA was traveling Eastbound in his 2014 Dodge Ram pick-up when he lost control and traveled into the South ditch. No injuries or damages were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

On February 8th, 2019 at approximately 2:48 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle accident with injury near the area of Kornhill and Hill Roads. Upon arrival deputies discovered that the vehicle had rolled onto its side, the driver had sustained significant injuries, and was trapped inside his 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The owner of the vehicle Steven Brehme, age 62 of Wadena, IA was safely removed by emergency crews and a short time later was air lifted from the accident scene by Gunderson Air Care. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fayette Ambulance, Fayette Fire and Rescue,  Wadena Fire and Rescue, Fayette Police Department, and The Iowa State Patrol . The investigation remains ongoing and charges may be filed at a later time. The 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was deemed a total loss.

 

On 2-10-19, at approximately 5:15 Pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a roll-over vehicle accident on Hwy 18 near the Clayton County/Fayette County line.  Fayette County Deputies arrived on scene and it was found that Josue Baldomar Marroquin Chuy, 21 of Postville was eastbound on Hwy 18 initiating a curve, when he lost control due to weather conditions and rolled his vehicle onto its side in the ditch.  No injuries were sustained and damage to the 2010 Mazda M3S was estimated at $3,000.
