One Vehicle Crash
On January 22, 2019 at approximately 8:25 a.m., Chelsea Greene, age 43 of Eastman, WI, was driving her 2017 Ford Explorer north on Hwy 151 just north of Old Highway Road in Paris Township when she began to slide on the ice covered roadway. The vehicle slid into the east ditch line causing damage to the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was removed from the ditch by Donnie's Tire and Tow of Dickeyville.


One Vehicle Crash
On January 22, 2019 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Dakota Vaassen, age 26 of Galena, IL, was driving his Pontiac Grand Am north on Hwy 80 near Saint Rose Road in Smelser Township. Vaassen began to slide on the snow and ice covered roads. The vehicle left the roadway and went into the ditch causing minor damage to the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Munyons Towing Service. The Cuba City Police Department assisted at the scene.


Car versus guardrail crash
On January 22, 2019 at approximately 9:33 a.m., Laurie Vanostrand, age 58 of East Dubuque, was driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix owned by Toys Done Right Auto Sales of Dubuque Iowa. Vanostrand was taking the north bound on ramp from Hwy 11/35 onto Hwy 151. The vehicle began to slide on the ice covered roadway causing the vehicle to collide with a guardrail. The vehicle received heavy damage and was removed from the scene by Wenzel Towing of Dubuque.


1st Offense OWI Arrest
On January 22, 2019 at about 2:42 PM a Grant County Deputy stopped a pickup truck driven by Christopher J. Palmer, 34, of Farley, IA after the Deputy witnessed the vehicle traveling at a speed that appeared well in excess of the posted 30 MPH speed limit on East Street near Park St in Potosi, WI. The Deputy also witnessed the vehicle cross the center line of the road multiple times prior to stopping it. Palmer was asked to perform field sobriety tests which led to his arrest for OWI, 1st Offense. Palmer was taken to Grant Regional Health Center for a legal blood draw and was then taken to the Grant County Jail where he was held until a responsible party could come to sign for him. Palmer was also cited for Operating Left of Center.


Slide off results in vehicle damage
On January 24, 2019 at approximately 6:20 AM Samantha King, age 23 of Platteville, was traveling west on Stub Road near the intersection of Mockingbird Road, Lima Township in her 2007 Saturn Ion when the icy and snow covered road conditions caused her to slide into a ditch while attempting to stop at a yield sign. King's vehicle left the north side of the roadway resting against a power pole. King was not injured in the slide off but her vehicle received minor damage. The Grant County Sheriffs Office was assisted on scene by Harley's Towing, Platteville and Scenic Rivers.
