THE MISSION OF THE EDGEWOOD-COLESBURG COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT IS TO ASSIST AND ENSURE THAT EACH STUDENT ACHIEVES HIS OR HER LEVEL OF EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE

 

Exchanged proposal with the Classified Staff.

 

The board recognized Football Academic All-State: Dayne Bergan, Kal Hoeger, Preston Rochford, Ethan Streicher (4 out of 51 Class A players); Erica Voss for Academic All-State Volleyball.  

 

Dayne Bergan was one of the winners this year at the Know Your Constitution event sponsored by the Iowa State Bar Association.  He has won a free trip to Washington D.C. with Mr. Lutgen, his government teacher.

 

Kearstin Hansel, Kalie Jaster, Carson Kirby, Morgan Vorwald for being accepted to the Dorian Honor Band!

TOBACCO/NICOTINE-FREE ENVIRONMENT

 

School district facilities and grounds, including school vehicles, are off limits for tobacco or nicotine use, including the use of look-a-likes where the original would include tobacco or nicotine.  This requirement extends to students, employees and visitors.  This policy applies at all times, including school-sponsored and nonschool-sponsored events.  Persons failing to abide by this request are required to extinguish their smoking material, dispose of the tobacco, nicotine or other product or leave the school district premises immediately.  It is the responsibility of the administration to enforce this policy.

 

Approved paying one-fourth of the remaining debt of the Community Dreams Committee approximately $5,700.

 

Discussed Building Projects – Edgewood stage curtains are scheduled to be cleaned.

session in the Edgewood Board Room, on Monday, January 21, 2019. President Schilling called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Directors Present: Travis Gudenkauf, Robert Schilling, Matt Elliot, & Dan Venteicher.
Directors Absent: Kenneth Faust
Also present: Superintendent Rob Busch, Principal Dawn Voss, and Board Secretary Melissa Conner.
Visitors: Catrina Bruns, LuAnn Bolsinger, Matt Gaul, Robin McCool, Angel Kulper, & Mary Ann Every.
President Schilling welcomed our visitors.
Director Venteicher motioned to approve the agenda as presented. Director Gudenkauf seconded the motion. Motion Carried 4-0.
Director Gudenkauf motioned to approve the recognition of: Academic All-State Football: Dayne Bergan, Kal Hoeger, Preston Rochford, and Ethan Streicher. Academic All-State Volleyball: Erica Voss. Director Gudenkauf moved to approve the budget for Summer Tuckpointing/Concrete Work at $20,000.00. Director Venteicher seconded the movement. Motion Carried 4-0.

Director Venteicher moved to approve paying one fourth of the remaining half of the Community Dreams Committee debt payment. Director Gudenkauf seconded the movement. Motion Carried 4-0.
The Board discussed the Building Projects.
Principal Voss: Meeting with the SIAC Committee and plan to discuss the conditions of learning. We may not be able to compare the Iowa Assessments like we have in the past. It will be a brand new test that the students are taking. Working on getting a couple staff members trained in order to teach the Hunter Safety Course.
Superintendent Busch: Presented on the Voted PPEL. Spoke about different branding options.
Director Schilling: Commend the Athletes, Band Members, and Dayne Bergan on their accomplishments.
