On January 8th, 2019, The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Impala for moving violations on County N in the Prairie du Chien Township. The deputy identified the driver as Tarance Jackson, 37, of Mount Hope and his passenger Madelaine Fure, age 25, of Cassville. In speaking with the occupants, the deputy observed several indicators of criminal activity and observed Fure to be exhibiting signs of drug impairment.
K-9 Breck was utilized for an open free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. Breck performed an interior sniff and alerted to a coat inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a glass vial of crystal methamphetamine inside the coat pocket. Other methamphetamine-related paraphernalia, including a digital scale and smoking device, were located in the vehicle and on Fure’s person.
Fure was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail with charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department and Bob’s Towing.
