On January 2, 2019 at 10:40 A.M., Gary Cook of Dubuque was driving a FedEx van on 3rd Street in Muscoda TWSP when he slid through the snow covered intersection at 3rd St at Old Co P. Mr. Cook struck a west bound GM Acadia that was being driving by Angela Adametz of Blue River. Minor damage to both vehicles and no injures. All parties were wearing seat belts and no charges filed. Muscoda PD assisted.

Driver falls asleep and hits roadside sign

On January 2, 2018 at about 6:31 PM the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call of a one vehicle crash on Hwy 151 near mile marker 19, southbound. The investigating deputy learned that William Conzett, 82, of Dubuque, was driving his 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe going south on Hwy 151 near Hwy 80/81, Platteville Township. Conzett said that he had been driving from the Madison, WI area and he was tired. He said that he fell asleep while he was driving. Conzett's vehicle left the road to the right just at the end of the southbound on ramp to Hwy 151. It traveled along the shoulder for about .1 mile, re-entering the road and then going back to the right and off the road. Conzett's vehicle struck a large metal post to a Tourist Information sign along the roadside. This caused severe and disabling damage to his vehicle. Conzett suffered a minor hand injury but did not wish to have EMS called. Conzett was wearing his seatbelt and was otherwise uninjured. Conzett's vehicle was towed from the scene by Donnie's Tire and Auto of Dickeyville, WI.

Two Vehicle Crash w/ Entrapment

On January 4, 2019 at approximately 4:20 pm the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 11 near Rock Cut Rd located in the Township of Jamestown. Christopher Walter, age 47 from Cuba City, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 11 in his 2013 Chevy Cruze. At the same time Mckenzie Burkholder, age 21 from Hazel Green, was traveling westbound in her 2017 Subaru Impreza. Burkholder was looking down at her phone to adjust a playlist. When she looked up her vehicle was completely in the eastbound lane of traffic. There was a line of three vehicles traveling eastbound at the time. The first vehicle was able to maneuver into the ditch to avoid a collision but Burkholder struck the second vehicle, driven by Walter, head on. Walter was entrapped in his vehicle, extricated by JAWS of Life, and
transported to Southwest Health Center in Platteville. Burkholder was not injured in the crash. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Both vehicle sustained heavy front end and driver's side damages. Burkholder was cited for Operating Left of the Center Line and Inattentive Driving. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted in this matter by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office, The Dickeyville Police Department, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown First Responders, Dickeyville EMS, Guys Truck and Tractor, and Automotion.

On 1/8/2019 around 5:30a.m., Mathew Collins, age 33 from Patch Grove was driving his 2010 Toyota northbound on STH-133 near Lost Hollow road. While driving down the hill that was ice covered , the Collins lost control, and started spinning and hit the embankment flipping onto the passenger side. Also in the vehicle was Collins' 15 month old daughter, who was in a car seat and unhurt. Both parties transported were to Gunderson Hospital in Boscobel.
