Luana City Council Minutes of January 3, 2019

Meeting at the Luana City Hall

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Brenda Boddicker, Paul Miller, Todd Olson and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: None.

Mayor Jerry Schroeder called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of December meeting were reviewed and approved upon a motion by Miller, second by Boddicker carried unanimously.

Baade motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $15,252.08, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled $34,382.30. Total gross wages reported for 2018 for all council, elected officials and city employees $76,247.47. Miller motioned to pass Res. 1-19 T.O.F, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

Radloff-Schneider motioned to pass Res. 1-2019 appointing Mayor Jerry Schroeder as E-911 Service Board Representative and Lonnie Baade as Alternate Representative on behalf of the City of Luana, Boddicker second, carried unanimously.

Olson motioned to name “The Outlook” as the City of Luana’s official newspaper, Boddicker second, carried unanimously. Res. 1.2-2019 adopted.

Miller motioned to approve Recycling License for Sautters Auto located at 112 X-16 for the purpose of taking vehicles to recycling plant, Olson second, carried unanimously.

Radloff-Schneider motioned to support NEI Community Action in the amount of $269, for fiscal year 2020, Baade second, carried unanimously.

Boddicker motioned to approve a .50 cent per hour increase for Superintendent of Public Works, Miller second. Roll call vote: AYES 5, NAYS 0. Radloff-Schneider motioned to approve a .40 cent per hour increase for City Administrator, Baade second. Roll call vote: AYES 5, NAYS 0. Res. 1.3-2019 signed.

Council discussed various options for repairs to the city from funds of selling old fire station.

Concerns of building located at 203 Main Street were brought to councils attention. Owner will be notified.

Fire Chief Baade informed council they will be holding their annual firemans appreciation dinner on February 9th at 6pm at Luana Tavern.

Next regular Council meeting will be held February 7, 2019 at 7:00pm.

Mayor Schroeder adjourned the meeting at 8:08 pm.
