On December 21, 2018 at approximately 2:01 AM a Fayette County Deputy encountered a vehicle at Fireman’s Park near Highway 3 and County Road W13.  Upon investigation 29 year old Justin Lee Bartels of Fayette was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.  Bartels was transported to the Fayette County Jail and held awaiting appearance before a Magistrate.  

 

On December 21, 2018, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kenneth Ray Ogle, age 37 of Cedar Rapids, on a valid Fayette County Warrant for Failure to Appear (original charge – Theft 5th degree (Simple Misdemeanor)). Ogle was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he received an initial appearance. Ogle was later released on a $5000 unsecured appearance bond. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

 

On December 24, 2018, at approximately 10:10 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the 11000 block of 10th Street; approximately 1 mile west of Stanley. Esteban Ricardo Carrasco, age 38 of Oelwein, was driving a White 2004 Chevrolet K1500 Tahoe when he lost control and went into the north side ditch knocking down a pole with support wires to an electrical pole. Esteban and a passenger received minor injuries, and were treated on scene. The Tahoe received approximately $1500 in damage. Esteban was cited for failure to maintain control.

 

On December 24th, 2018 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a car vs. deer accident. Upon arrival it was discovered that Gerald C. Clay age, 39 of Maynard was traveling Northbound on W13 just South of Highway 3 when he struck a deer in the roadway with his 2004 Chevy Silverado. No injuries were reported and Clay’s Silverado sustained approximately $1,500.00 in damages.

 

On December 25th, 2018 at approximately 2:37 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a motorcycle accident near the area of D Avenue and Kornhill Road. Upon conducting an investigation it was discovered that Barry W. Timmerman age, 56 of Strawberry Point was traveling Northbound towards Wadena when he lost control of his 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle, causing him to travel into the West ditch. Minor injuries were reported and the 2017 Harley Davidson was deemed a total loss. Timmerman was transported to the Fayette County Jail and subsequently charged with driving while revoked (serious misdemeanor) and operating while intoxicated second offense (aggravated misdemeanor). The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fayette Ambulance and Wadena Fire and Rescue.

 

On 12/23/2018 at approx. 6:30 p.m. Fayette County Deputy arrested Kaitlyn Makay Rathjen 28 of Oelwein on a Valid Fayette County warrant for failure to appear on original charge of driving while suspended.  Rathjen was transported to Fayette County jail where she posted $300.00 cash bond and was released.  

 

On December 23, 2018 at 12:11 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a possible child endangerment at a residence outside of West Union.  Upon investigation, it was learned that 34 year old David Allen Gordon assaulted a child at his residence.  He was charged with Child Endangerment, Causing Injury, a Class D Felony.  Gordon was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held for an initial appearance in court.

 

On December 21, 2018 at 8:43 AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a subject violating a valid No Contact Order that was in place.  After an investigation, it was learned that 26 year old Alex Douglas Dettbarn of Monona had violated a No Contact Order that was in place against him.  Dettbarn was arrested in Elkader, then transported to the Fayette County Jail to be held for an initial appearance in court.  He was charged with Violating a No Contact Order (simple misdemeanor), and Stalking, (Class D Felony).  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Elkader Police Department.

 

On December 21, 2018 a Fayette County Deputy arrested 51 year old Mark Allen Olson of Oelwein on a warrant for Contempt of court, original charges were Driving While License Suspended and Failure to Prove Security Against Liability.  Olson was held for an initial appearance in court and was held on a $1500 bond.

 

On December 21, 2018 at 12:00 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident on Hwy 18 at the intersection of Garden Road.  When Deputies arrived, it was learned that a 2006 Freightliner driven by 64 year old Dale Jones of Waukon was driving eastbound on Hwy. 18 and failed to see a 1987 V10 Pickup driven by 82 year old Donald Alcorn of Clermont, stopped in the roadway waiting to make a left hand turn and rear ended it.  Alcorn’s vehicle sustained approximately $2000 worth of damage.  Dale Jones was cited for Following Too Closely.  No injuries were reported at the time of this accident.

On December 26, 2018 a Fayette County Deputy Arrested 22 year old Jacob Swearingen of Westgate for a Fayette County Warrant for a Probation Violation.  He was held with no bond at the Fayette County Jail until his initial appearance in court.
