On October 20, 2018 at 6:46pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a two vehicle hit and run accident on Colesburg Road near 400th Street. While responding to the accident scene Deputies located a male subject laying in the ditch on the Osterdock Road. The male subject, identified as Travis Fangman (25) of Colesburg stated he hit a deer and his vehicle was disabled down the road. Deputies determined that Fangmann’s vehicle, a 2014 Ford F150 was the vehicle that left the scene of the crash. Upon further investigation Deputies determined that Steven Wiskus of Colesburg was operating a 2002 Ford Escort. Wiskus had turned Northbound on Colesburg Road from 400th Street when an Fangmann rear-ended Wiskus causing Wiskus’ vehicle to enter the ditch and overturn.  Wiskus was transported to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and transferred via helicopter to University of Iowa Hospital with life threatening injuries. Fangmann was transported to Guttenberg Municipal where he was treated and released. Fangmann was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with No insurance, failure to use seatbelt, failure to maintain control, operating while intoxicated-3rd offense (Class “D” Felony), and leaving the scene of a serious injury accident (Aggravated Misdemeanor). The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Colesburg Fire Department, Colesburg Ambulance, Garber Fire Department, Edgewood Ambulance, Guttenberg Ambulance, Guttenberg Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.

 

On October 21, 2018 at 1:14pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on the Great River Road near 360th Street. Upon further investigation it was determined that Richard Ryan of Davenport was operating a 2015 Ford Expedition when he struck a deer causing $6,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On October 22, 2018 at 3:26pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on 378th Street near Strawberry Point. Upon further investigation it was determined that Adam Davis of Edgewood was operating a 2003 GMC Envoy at a high rate of speed when he lost control causing the vehicle to enter the ditch and overturn causing $6,000 damage. Davis was cited for Speeding and Failure to Maintain Control.

 

On October 23, 2018 at 4:15pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on 205th Street near Saint Olaf. Upon further investigation it was determined that Luis Xiya of Postville was operating a 2004 Dodge Neon when he lost control causing the vehicle to enter the ditch and overturn causing $4,000 damage. Xiya was transported to Central Community Hospital by Central Ambulance for treatment of injuries. He was charged with Failure to Maintain Control, No valid driver’s license, and No insurance. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Saint Olaf and Farmersburg Fire and First Responders, Elkader Police Department and the Central Ambulance Service.

 

On October 25, 2018 at 11:30pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 18 West of Business 18. Upon further investigation it was determined that Jeffrey Kaiser of Prairie Du Chien was operating a 2002 Dodge Caravan when he struck a deer causing $2,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On October 26, 2018 at 10:44am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Grandview Road and Highway 13. Upon further investigation it was determined that Dawn Schlesselman of Harpers Ferry was operating a 2012 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Highway 13 when a 2002 Ford Explorer operated by Eric Eastman of Cedar Rapids crossed the centerline and struck Schlesselman’s vehicle. Schlesselman was extricated from her vehicle and transported to the Central Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. A passenger in Eastman’s vehicle, Albert Amundson of Clermont was transported to Central Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Eastman was cited for Failure to Yield half of the roadway and no insurance.

 

On October 29, 2018 at 7:42pm, Clayton County Deputies investigated an assault that took place between two inmates. Upon further investigation, Tino Wilson (18) of Manchester was charged with assault causing bodily injury.

 

On October 30, 2018 at 7:05pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 56 near Coral Ave. Upon further investigation it was determined that William Koehn of Elkader was operating a 1997 Dodge 1500 when he struck a deer causing $1,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On November 1, 2018 at 8:30am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Kale Ave near Osterdock. Upon further investigation it was determined that Rebecca Hughes of Anamosa was operating a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am when she swerved to miss a deer and lost control. Her vehicle entered the ditch and overturned causing $10,000 damage. Hughes was transported to the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Guttenberg Ambulance and Guttenberg Fire Department.

 

On November 1, 2018 at 6:31pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 52 near 390th Street Upon further investigation it was determined that Dennis Hanna of Guttenberg was operating a 2002 Buick Park Avenue when he struck a deer causing $1,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On November 1, 2018 at 11:48pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident in Highway 18 near Bloody Run Rd. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Marcia Carroll of Monona was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze when he struck a deer causing $5,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On November 2, 2018 at 10:27am, Clayton County Deputies arrested 58 year old Glen Little of Wadena for driving while barred after a Fayette County Deputy observed Little operating a tractor on Bush Road near Volga. Little also had an active arrest warrant out of Fayette County.

 

On November 6, 2018 at 11:25pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 76 North of Marquette. Upon further investigation it was determined that Brett Lessard of Waterville was operating a 2000 Volkswagon Cabrio when he struck a deer causing the vehicle to enter the ditch causing $1,500 damage. No injuries were reported.
