Luana City Council Minutes of November 1, 2018

Meeting at the Luana City Hall

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Paul Miller, Todd Olson and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: Brenda Boddicker.

Mayor Jerry Schroeder called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of October meeting were reviewed and approved upon a motion by Radloff-Schneider, second by Miller carried unanimously.

Baade motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $22,376.33, Olson second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled $39,592.49. Miller motioned to pass Res. 11-18 T.O.F, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

Council directed Administrator Humble to contact West Union Trenching concerning expenses incurred from water main break.

Council will begin accepting sealed bids for the Luana Fire Station building located at 212 Main Street. Bids are to be received by noon on or before December 5, 2018. Baade motioned to approve Resolution 11.1-2018 to set public hearing for the proposed sale of Luana Fire Station building located at 212 Main Street on December 6, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Luana City Hall, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Olson motioned to approve Resolution 11.2-2018 to set public hearing for the proposed sale of Lot 2 of Lot 7 in Block 8 at 212 Main Street on December 6, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Luana City Hall, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously.

Olson motioned to pass Res. 11-2018 Adding Additional Street Light on corner of Main Street and Burgess Street, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Roll call vote: AYES 4, NAYS 0. Whereupon, the Mayor declared the measure duly adopted.

Baade motioned to approve tax abatement request for Lot 8 of Countryside Estates, Olson second, carried unanimously.

Baade motioned to support the MFL After Prom Party in the amount of $200, Miller second, carried unanimously.

Council tabled selling water to entities outside city limits until other cities could be contacted.

Council discussed changes to Iowa One Call. Consensus of council to use email option.

Next regular Council meeting will be held December 6, 2018 at 7:00pm.

Mayor Schroeder adjourned the meeting at 8:05 pm.
