On 10/27/18 at 6:25 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office recieved a 911 call reporting a vehicle in the ditch at Hwy 18 and Garden Rd. An investigation determined that Lynn Ann Helgerson age 46 from Eldorado was operating a  2006 Buick eastbound on Hwy 18 when she lost control and entered the south ditch. The vehicle sustained minor damage and no injuries reported. Helgerson was cited for fail to maintain control.


On 10/27/18 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Allen Kenyon age 75 from Mason City. Kenyon was arrested on two  Fayette County Warrants for probation violation. Kenyon was held in the Fayette County Jail on $10,000 cash bond pending an appearance with a Magistrate.


On Friday, October 26, 2018 at 7:48 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle accident on White Tail Road, west of the City of Waucoma.  When emergency crews arrived, it was discovered that two occupants in a 1990 Dodge Truck left the roadway and rolled several times in the ditch.  The driver was identified as 49 year old Mark Charles Kuennen of Waucoma.  He and his passenger Jamie Dawn Wenthe, 40 of Postville, were extricated by the Waucoma Fire Department and both were flown from the scene to Rochester by Gundersen Air and Mayo 1 to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.  This accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office, Waucoma Fire Department, Tristate Ambulance, and Winneshiek Memorial Ambulance. 


On Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 3:40 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident on 150th Street, at the intersection of T Ave.  When a Deputy arrived, it was learned that 18 year old Chloe Kime of Hawkeye was driving a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire on T Ave. when she failed to stop at the stop sign.  She drove into the path of a 2012 Chevy Impala that was driving west on 150th Street, driven by a 16 year old female.  No injuries were reported.  Kime’s vehicle was totaled, and  Smith’s vehicle had functional damage.  Chloe Kime was charged with Fail to Obey Stop or Yield Sign.


On Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 6:56 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Car vs. Deer accident on Lincoln Road, south of Lion Road.  Upon investigation, it was learned that 52 year old Bonnie Bootsmiller was driving a 2018 Honda Odyssey south on Lincoln Road when she was struck by a white tail deer that came out of the ditch area.  Her vehicle sustained $6000 worth of damage, and no injuries were reported.
