On October 1, 2018 at 12:28pm, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on First Street in Marquette for a traffic violation. Deputies came into contact with 50 year old Benjamin Lechnir of McGregor. Upon further investigation, Lechnir was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with driving while suspended, fail to obey stop sign, no insurance, unlawful use of license, open container of alcohol, defective tires and operation without registration.

 

On October 3, 2018 at 7:05am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a semi rollover on Iris Ave just South of 215th Street. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Matthew Jones of Leeds, AL was operating a 2016 Freightliner when Jones got too close to the edge of the road. Jones lost control causing the semi and trailer to enter the ditch an overturn causing $10,000 damage. Jones was transported to Central Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Central Ambulance Service and Farmersburg First Responders.

 

On October 5, 2018 at 6:40pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 56 near Delta Ave. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Rick Trebon of Wadena was operating a 2005 Ford Escape when he struck a deer causing $2,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On October 5, 2018 after a several month long narcotics investigation, Clayton County Deputies arrested 37 year old Greg Kirby of McGregor. Kirby was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Delivery of Methamphetamines (Class “C” Felony). Kirby remains in the Clayton County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.

 

On October 8, 2018 at 10:47am Clayton County Deputies responded to a semi rollover on Aspen Ave near Elgin. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Roger Bergan of Hawkeye was operating a 2010 Freightliner when he got too close to the edge of the road. Bergan lost control causing the semi and trailer to enter the ditch and overturn causing $10,000 damage. Bergan was cited for failure to maintain control.

 

On October 8, 2018 at 2:39pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 13 near 318th Street. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Payton Matthews of Manchester was operating a 2004 Ford Stratus northbound on Highway 13 when the passenger side tired dropped onto the shoulder of the road. Matthews attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway, where he lost control and entered the ditch causing $2,500 damage. Matthews and a passenger, Ryanne Pritchard of Manchester were transported to Central Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Matthews was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted a the scene by Strawberry Point Fire Department and Ambulance and the Iowa DNR.

 

On October 13, 2018, 27 year old Aaron Chapman of Edgewood turned himself into the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office on a Clayton County Warrant for Violation of a No Contact Order. Chapman was held in the Clayton County Jail pending an appearance in Court.

 

On October 16, 2018 at 9:00pm, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 18 near Hickory Ave. Upon further investigation, Deputies located marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Deputies arrested 18 year old Ellie Christianson of Guttenberg. Christianson was transported to the Clayton County Jail where she was charged with Possession of a controlled substance marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
