The Clayton Ridge School Board received an enrollment report, with the certified enrollment up 17-students from last year.
The Board approved a resolution to continue participation in an Instructional Support Program.
Michelle Deegan was hired as quarter-time Title One Techer.  Steve Clefisch was hired as bus driver, Jarid Grinstead and Rich Miller were named volunteer wrestling coaches.

Call to Order/Roll Call

The Clayton Ridge Board held their regular meeting October 16, 2018 in the Clayton Ridge High School Library, Guttenberg. President Heying called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM. Other members in attendance were Aulwes, Finnegan, Johnson and Ihde. Helle and Reimer were absent.

Also in attendance were Shane Wahls, David Schlueter, and Steve Hoff.

Oath of office was administered to David Schlueter, Board Secretary.

Public Hearing

A public hearing was held for the proposed instructional support levy. There being no members of the public present, the public hearing was closed at 7:11 PM.

Approval of Agenda

Motion by Finnegan and second by Ihde to approve the agenda. Motion carried unanimously.

Reports / Communcation

Superintendent Wahls updated the board on construction projects, gym roofs, and Veteran’s Day plans. Certified enrollment for 2018-19 is up 17 students.

Steve Hoff, IAVA Head of Schools, updated the board on their enrollment increase of 116 students and discussed enrollment procedures for 2019-20, field trips, and assessment programs.

David Schlueter reviewed the 2017-18 Certified Annual Report and Special Ed Supplement.

Board members discussed special education deficit, medical kits for each building, and asked for report on the games when students were granted free admission.

Consent Agenda

Motion by Aulwes and second by Johnson to approve the minutes of the September 13 regular board meeting; the minutes of the September 24 special board meeting; September financial statements; listing of invoices; and additional pay requests totaling $2,382.90. Motion carried unanimously.

New Business

1. Approve Instructional Support Levy

Motion by Ihde and second by Finnegan to adopt Resolution of Participation in an Instructional Support Program. Roll call vote. Motion carried unanimously.

2. Employment

Motion by Finnegan and second by Johnson to hire Michelle Deegan as .25 FTE Title I Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Aulwes and second by Johnson to hire Steve Clefisch as bus route driver and shuttle bus driver. Motion carried unanimously.

3. Request Allowable Growth and Supplement Aid

Motion by Finnegan and second by Johnson to request allowable growth and supplement state aid for the negative special education balance of ($320,717.85). Motion carried unanimously.

4. Open enrollment

Motion by Johnson and second by Aulwes to deny 42 open enrollment applications due to missing deadlines and/or classroom availability. Motion carried unanimously.

5. Volunteer wrestling coaches

Motion by Aulwes and second by Ihde to approve Jarid Grinstead and Rich Miller as volunteer wrestling coaches, pending completion of coaching certification. Motion carried unanimously.

6. Facility Use Requests

Motion by Ihde and second by Aulwes to approve request from Garnavillo Day Care for Holiday Bazaar. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Finnegan and second by Johnson to approve request from Jefferson Go-Hawks 4-H Club. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Ihde and second by Johnson to approve request from Jeff Hoeger, representing youth basketball. Motion carried unanimously.

7. Annual Meeting

Motion by Finnegan and second by Aulwes to approve the 2017-18 Certified Annual Report. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Aulwes and second by Ihde to adjourn the meeting at 8:59 PM.
