The Iowa Department of Transportation has approved more than 800-thousand dollars in funding for a railroad project for Pattison Sand Company. The Telegraph Herald reports that the company will received funds through the Iowa Railroad Revolving Loan and Grant Program. Pattison will receive a 564-thousand dollar grant and a loan that totals nearly 272-thousand dollars. Company officials say the funds will help support a third phase of a 25-million dollar project that will link the Clayton facility to the nearby Canadian Pacific Rail Line. As part of the grant, Pattisons must maintain 47-jobs that were identified at risk if the rail project could not be carried out. The company employs nearly 350-people.
