Assist Wisconsin State Patrol with K9 Apprehension

On Saturday September 22, 2018 at approximately 11:29 p.m., the Wisconsin State Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle on USH 18 for a traffic violation. The vehicle refused to stop and traveled west toward Prairie du Chien. The vehicle then turned South on Industrial Blvd and crashed in to a field. Two subjects fled from the vehicle leaving a female subject in the back seat. The Wisconsin State Patrol requested the assistance of the Grant County K9 Unit. Deputy Hottenstein arrived on scene with K9 Riggs and with the backup of the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Prairie du Chien Police Department, a track was started. K9 Riggs located the first subject (later identified as Allen James Penewell, 24 of Lancaster) in a swamp approximately 90 feet from the vehicle. The Penewell refused to show his hands and cooperate, so K9 Riggs was utilized for an apprehension and Penewell was taken into custody.  K9 Riggs started tracking again and located the second subject (later identified as Robby James Campbell, 34 of Potosi) approximately 200 feet from the first locate. Campbell also did not show his hands and cooperate and K9 Riggs was utilized for another apprehension. Campbell was taken into custody and then to Crossing Rivers Hospital for treatment of injuries and low body temperature. Campbell was charged with Possession W/Intent Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of THC, Obstructing Justice, Operating W/Restricted Controlled Substance 2nd, Operating after Revocation (OWI Related), Flee / Elude Officer, Speeding - 70/55 and a Warrant Arrest.  Penewell did not have significant injuries that required being seen by a doctor. He was taken to the Crawford County Jail on charges of:
Possession W/Intent Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of THC, Obstructing Justice and a Warrant Arrest.  Assisting the Wisconsin State Patrol at the scene was the Prairie du Chien Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office and the Grant County K9 Unit.

Pickup truck hits couch
On Wednesday Sept 26, 2018 at approximately 8:23 p.m., Joshua M Droessler (41) of Hazel Green, was traveling east on STH 11 pulling a trailer with a new two piece couch. Near the intersection of CTH Z (west) the two piece couch fell off the trailer and landed in the middle of the road. Before Law Enforcement could arrive on scene, a pickup being driven by David M. Barclay (57) of Shullsburg struck the couch. Barclay's 2006 Chevrolet 1500 sustained damage to the right front corner, but was able to be driven from the scene. There were no injuries in the crash.  The couch was a total loss.
