My husband Will and I have been married for 20 years now, we first met when we were 3 years old when my mom babysat him ands his brother. His family and my family stayed really good friends. We never really started dating until I moved to a different school. The first time he asked me out I turned him down, but then a few weeks later him a few others friends and I went to a concert and I had said to another friend that I thought he was really cute and I wanted to date him and she hooked us up and we have been together ever since. High School sweethearts. We got married right out a school had 2 beautiful children. We have had our ups and downs, but has made our marriage stronger. I love him with all my heart and would be lost without him.Pam

I met my boyfriend almost 7 years ago in Garber.  We danced but he never asked for my name or number.  Later he talked to some of his friends from the area to try to figure out who I was.  Nearly a month later, we accidently met up again at the same place.  It was meant to be.  We talked numerous times after that and finally went out on our first date together.  I will never forget how it all happened and he holds a special place in my heart.  Mark and his son are my life now!   -Melissa

I met my husband of 30 years at a dance at Lakeside who was from Wi. That was the time there was a dance every weekend at Lakeside. He and his friends would come across the river by boat.  Things just clicked and we started dating a couple weeks after that and married about 2 years later and of course our reception was at Lakeside. We are blessed with 2 wonderful children and now a grandson.    Carol

I met my husband Mike 11 years ago when I first laid my eyes on him at his sister's high school graduation. My cousin and Mike's sister had always been friends, and I had become friends with his sister too. At her graduation, I asked who that boy was and have been with him ever since! Our first date was his junior prom in high school on Oct. 2, 2004. We will be married 4 years this year on Oct. 2, and our first child just turned a year old on Jan. 2 of this year. I don't know what I would do without my high school sweetheart. It is the best love to have shared our lives together for this long and to have him as my one and only! I am so looking forward to spending the rest of my life with him! Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite! Happy Valentine's Day, Mike. Love always and forever, Nicole

It was my last semester of my Senior year at college, when one of my closest friends said I needed to meet this guy so I agreed. Towards the end of the semester, we spent a lot of time together. I got to know my boyfriend through mutual friends at college. It has been a great two almost three years together and I can't wait to see what the future holds for the two us. We made it through a trying time when I moved out East for a year and I couldn't have done it without the support of him. I call him my better half for a reason! Anna

I met my husband at Doug's Steakhouse. After talking into the night, I left for a week-long vacation the next day. When I returned, I didn't know if he wanted to see me or even remember me. But he did and despite a nine year age difference, here we are 2 kids and 6 grandkids later, we are about to celebrate 40 years of marriage on Feb. 15th :) Julie

I met the love of my life after a Fireman's Dance. We were introduced to each other by my sons first grade school teacher. We had a drink and I asked her if she would go out to dinner with me and she said no because she was gay. I didn't believe her so I kept asking she still said no. Well later that night they showed up at my house and took all my toilet paper to go tepee trees and houses so I knew I had a chance. I called her every night for two months, got to know her and she got to know me and I asked her out again and finally I got a yes. From that cold night of Dec. 5, 2003 we has made the most of it. She is the savior of me and our children, she is the glue and the one I LOVE! I LOVE YOU HOLLY!   Chad

I scoped my husband out for many weeks prior to meeting him.  He was on patrol working and I use to walk his routes hoping to bump into him.  After no luck, a mutual friend introduced us at the Jones County Fair - one minor detail, again, he was working and I was hanging out with friends enjoying specialty beverages :)....  The following week, I finally asked him out - our first date was water skiing.  He could slalom ski and commented that it was difficult to slalom ski on your first attempt.  I was up for the challenge and was successful on my first try.  Many years later we can still ski, it just hurts alot more when we fall now.  We have been together for 17 years and have 2 children.  Thankful for the blessings we have.  Amy

Unique? We know it's not, But how we met, Here's what we've got:

What started in grade school Continued to grow, Just like Georges song, Check Yes or No

How we met, Is the age-old story, Of two high school sweethearts: Stacy & Cory

We're best friends, Now living happily ever after.

Unique? Maybe not. But were sure happy, With what we've got!  Stacy

My Husband and I have been together 8 years this coming July.We met through one of my friends. First we just talked on the phone and found out we had a lot in common and had the feeling of love at first sight. Our first date was July 1st 2006 we watched the Guttenberg fireworks together. And we decided to go on a 2nd date, we went 4-wheeling and the show off that he is got us stick in a giant mud whole! And like every relationship we have our ups and our downs but we always stick together. We got engaged in August of 2008 and still I had to wait 3 more years to finally be married in September 2012.My mother in-law had everyone sign and quilt square at our wedding and I think we are going to be seeing a lot of finally from our families and friends. I love him now more than ever. Jessica

I met Wayne at his brother's going away to college party. We started talking and things just clicked. Wayne wrote the sweetest notes in the cards he gave me as we were dating, and he stole my heart. The rest was, as they say, history. We have been married for 25 years, and hope to have many, many more. Happy Valentines Day, Love you!  Karen

I met my husband on Myspace. He was a soldier in Iraq and he'd always try calling any chance he could.  Even though we hadn't met yet, I had a feeling he was the one, so I asked him out.  We finally met on his two week leave, then I realized I wanted to spend forever with him.  Seven long months later we were together again, and a few years later he asked me to marry him.  Now after two deployments and a beautiful 7 month old daughter, I'm thankful and blessed that he is my husband.  Amber

I was working in the bakery , when Chris came to the bakery, I said the usual? He said no, I would like to go to a movie with you because that would be sweeter. After our date he gave me 1 rose. The very next day he sent me 11 roses with this message:did you think I would send a beautiful girl like you 1 flower. Its been 17 years since that Feb.13th, 12 wonderful years of marriage 4 sons and lots love and fun!!.  Victoria

I came from England and was placed at a camp in Sherrill, IA to work for the summer. One night I went to The Barn. I was speaking to the locals and Brian came and talked to me. We were inseparable from that moment. Visa regulations meant I had to go back to England. We spoke everyday. He came to England, then I moved to America. We have 2 children and been married 6 years.  I found out he told his friend at the bar back in 2006 I am going to marry her....Love at first sight.   Kerry

Three years ago we met playing softball against each other in a Friday night league. Along with our friends, we hung out every weekend until I moved back to college. We then went our separate ways. The next summer we hit it off again. We became good friends and started dating, but this time we didn't let the 1.5 hour distance bother us. After he asked me to switch softball teams to be on his the next summer, I knew he was serious about us!:)This winter on vacation in Mexico he asked me to marry him!!  I Love You, Megan

My husband, Dillon and I met in high school. We had dated once before for a very short time and he broke up with me on my birthday. I was crushed. A few years later, we decided to try again and have been together for seven years, married for 3 and now have a daughter. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. He is the love of my life.  Kayla

My fiancee and I went to the same college.  We met for the first time at the gazebo right in the middle of campus.  When I first met him I was not to sure about him, but he was very insistent about wanting to spend time with me and getting to know me better.  After coming out of a hard relationship, it meant a lot to have someone that actually wanted to spend time with me, so I gave him a chance and here we are three years later, planning our wedding and I couldn't be happier.  Janet

I met my wife of 39 years, 40 in august, at a dance in Elkport. Two days before leaving for Basic Training in the Army. One kiss that night lasted for 4 months till I got home. Two and a half years later we got married. We had 4 wonderfull children that help us stay young and busy. She's been my companion and my best friend for over 42 years and still love each other. Greg

My husband and I met 30 years ago, at a bar no less, and he claims when he first seen me, I was the one he would marry.  well at the time we were dating other people and stayed best friends for 2 years, then we went on our first date, and well, we will be together 28 years, and this May we will celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary, we have had our ups and downs like every couple does, and still hold hands in public and well, I can gladly say my husband Jeff Mezera is still and always will be my best friend.

Janet

I was with my best friend, we were returning a trailer to his father. When we went inside to give the keys back I could not keep my eyes off the girl sitting in the chair but she would not look or speak. Soon her dog came over and started power sniffing my leg and she looked me right in the eyes and said "you must have a dog", I could barley muster the courage to respond "I have 9". After that day we kept in contact online. It took some time for our work schedules to line up, but when we finally did go on a date I knew right away it would last.  Brandon

We first met when our schools merged together in 1993.  I didnâ?Tt really notice him until high school, after playing hard to get  for a while we soon became inseparable and dated all throughout high school, overcoming 4 yrs plus of obstacles in our path.  We later married as High School sweethearts and have 3 beautiful children. He always reminds me of the day  he went to pick out my ring how he ran out of gas half way to Waukon and had to call his aunt to bring him gas so he could continue his journey of love --  and how that was a sign he was glad he didn't listen too!  It was truly meant to be!  Thank you for being such a wonderful supporter/father to our family.   Luv you Lee!  Melissa

My wife and I met at my family farm and hang out listen to 100.1. Overtime we started dating then moved in together. I had already brought a ring but waiting for the right time to propose. Then one day at work I was cutting a tree down and a branch broke off and hit me in the back and broke 3 vertebrate. When she came into the ER room the look on her face told me she truly loved me.That night even though I couldn't get down on one knee I meet her at the bottom of the stairs and asked her to marry me and she said YES.   Jake

My husband use to live in Dubuque and went to school in Minneapolis.  He always drove by Monona and saw the billboard that said "You'll like Monona" He ended up getting a job in Elkader and when he went to pay his rent his landlord "My Aunt" asked if he was married, seeing someone and when he said no to both she said, "Well, I have this niece...."  He ended up giving me a call, we went on a date in September and were married 11 months later and now live in MONONA.  I still love Jeff as much today as I did then.

I had a co-worker who raised Grate Dane's.  He had one left and would sell it cheap.  He said it would be a little while before he could have his ears croped so I  could keep him.  He had his daughter take him to the vet in CR.  It came time to pick him up and I paid, I didn't know where the Vet office was at and could his daughter go with me.  We had a blast going after the dog.  The next June were were married and it will be the best 37-years in my life.  Deb

Halloween night of '1979' was an awesome night looking back now!!  I was a 17 year old Junior and Matt was a 14 year old Freshman.   I thought he was a "Trick" and he thought I was a "Treat".  He was the only Freshman at my High School Prom and I had to drive him there.  He chased me for three years before I finally turned around and caught him :-)  With lots of family support talking to our priest, (and he said it would never last) we were finally married in '1984'.  Happy almost 30th Anniversary Matthew!!!

Love, Rhonda

I met Amy at a college party three years ago and unfortunately I lost her phone number and we went our separate ways. A few weeks later we ended up road tripping to the same friend's birthday party and again a few months later started going to the bars together. We started dating, her and her roommate both moved in with me while we finished college, and now Amy and I are both living together in our own home we remodeled together. Hopefully we will have many more Valentines Days to celebrate together!  Brandon

Kevin and I attended Bloomington High School and graduated in 1978. Afterwards, he left for the Navy and I joined the Army. He served for 20 years and retired to Patch Grove to assist his aging Father. I married a career Army man and we moved back to Glen Haven after our youngest son, Ryan, was killed in Iraq in 2003. My Mother was ready to sell the family farm and I knew it would be a peaceful resting place for Ryan.

My husband of 30 years passed away in March of 2008.

In early 2011, the local Legion was planning to erect a Veteran’s Memorial and I sold some raffle tickets to Kevin. We have been inseparable ever since! We are able to relate to each other on many different levels and I truly believe he is my soul mate; that we were destined to find each other. Kevin proposed on my birthday this past December and I couldn’t be happier!  Donna

I met my husband Tom 25 years ago. He is the love of my life. I was working at the bowling alley and he was bowling on the league. We have been together ever since. We have been married for 23 years. I'm so glad we met. I will love him for the rest of my life! Jill

I met my boyfriend of almost 9 years at a party one night. It took him a month before he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. He finally asked me to marry him last march, and we are getting married this sept! It pays to wait for the right person!  Samantha

Fourteen years ago I met my love on February 13th. A friend was having a movie night with his wife and 3 kids, invited me to join them. His wife had also asked a friend to come over. I knew I'd marry Tricia the moment I saw her. Sounds cliche, but it was true. Never a doubt.

I asked her to marry me 3 months later. We decided not to wait to plan a wedding-- we planned to elope! Four months after we met, we married. It was a great wedding day and lots of fun surprising friends and family with our news! She is a beautiful woman, a caring mother & an incredible best friend.  Ryan

We met through a mutual friend. We dated for a short time, and both knew we liked each other. Unfortunately some circumstances took us different directions and we eventually quit seeing each other. Around a year and a half later we got in touch with each and decided to give it another shot. We dated for the next 3 years, and were married last September!!   Jared

It was a night in December. I was headed out for a girls night. My two girlfriends forgot their I.D.s so we couldn't get into the place to dance. My friend called her boyfriend and we decided to meet him to play pool. He and a roommate had just moved into a house, rumored to be haunted. His roommate didn't want to stay there alone, so he tagged along. My friends, boyfriends, roommate (Alex) and I hit it off. We ended up staying out all night. My parents got worried and ended up calling the fire department to search for me. What a start to our relationship. We are now engaged and planning our wedding.   Morgan

Adam & I met when I was friends with his sister Emily and went home with her on the weekends during the summer.  He asked me out a couple times, but I thought he was asking for me & his sister to go, which she couldn't go to a bar because she was underage.  I didn't realize he was really just asking me out until one day his Mom said I think Adam likes Angie?.  Then it dawned on me that he liked me, so I told his sister to have him ask me out again, the rest is history!  Angie

I met my wife of 53-years by my brother after I got out of the Navy.  It was a blind date.  Charles

I first met my wife or love at first sight at a basketball game she was playing in as a Senior.  I sat behind her and she had a pony tail.  I kept poking it until she showed me she had had a ring.  I was to young to realize she turned her class ring upside down.  Went on for two weeks.  Dated four years or engaged.  She said lets get married in 30-days, we did.  Will be married 50-years the 16th of May 2014.  5-children, 12-grandchildren, and 1st great-grand child to in February 2014.  Arlis

Met my wife through a friend at work. We went out as a group for drinks. As my luck would prevail I drank a little to much. Actually I literally tipped over. So I didn't think I was to impressing to her. My friend at work kept asking me to go do different things with them. I refused, I was so post to call her, I didn't. Then one sunday she walked right into my work (freight dock) and said we are going out for super tonight and your going. Did I mention shes a red head. So 20 yrs later, here we are still happily together. Justin

Tom and I were set up on a blind date by his best friend Pat that I worked with. It took Pat 2 months to talk me into a blind date with Tom because this is how he described him to me. "Well he is middle-aged, farms with his dad, has big farmer glasses, an ok butt, balding a little, recently separated and his last name is Polkinghorn but we called him jabbing antler in college." I finally gave in for a sunday night double date. As they walked up the stairs to meet me that night all I could smell was old spice and thought yeah he does have a nice butt. Then my 130 pound dog drolled all over him and i started to fall in love. February 28th of this year will be 15 yrs ago we had my first only and last blind date.    Debbie

I Met Roland at his Grandmas house. His Grandma Irene got sick and was in the hospital. I was hired to take care of her and make meals for them(Grandpa and Grandma), when she came home from the hospital. This was before Labor Day. On Labor Day, he and his sister came to visit their Grandma and was going to the Labor Day dance in the evening at New Vienna. They invited me to go with them, so I did. And we are dancing ever since. Rosie

I met my husband Ross through a friend at work named Bernie. Bernie told me "I have the perfect guy for you". That evening a bunch of us went out for supper and I met Ross. It was Ross's birthday. We hit it off well and fell in love and have been together 14 years. A year after meeting Ross we went to the Grand Canyon and he proposed to me. (Bernie said the reason Ross took me to the Grand Canyon to propose was so if I said no then Ross could throw me into the canyon).  Sherrie

My fiance and I met when I was eight years old at a fifties and sixties dance in Elkport, IA. We danced together for one dance, and shortly after that night we lost contact. I had a crush on him for years afterwards but gave up hope of ever reconnecting.About seven years later, he had contacted me on facebook and asked me to a movie...twice; however, I turned him down both times not really knowing why I did. A couple weeks later, I saw him at the Delaware County Fair, and recently acquiring his number, texted him. It was about ten o'clock that evening and we walked around the fairgrounds talking until 2 that morning. We have been together for almost 4 years now and are getting married in July. I have a family heirloom ring, and it fits perfectly. I truly believe it was meant to be.  Amber

I was in high school at the time.  I was staying with some friends overnight.  My friends decided it would be fun to visit a house down the street where they knew some guys that were a lot of fun to hang out with.  I had never met them before.  We hung out with them until very late, and ended up sleeping there.  After waking up the next morning, one more of the roommates (now my husband, Chad) came home from work to find us there.  He thought I was a boy because of the clothes I wore and no makeup....  My friends and I ended up staying for much of that day.  I thought Chad was so much fun to be around.  He made me laugh so much.  After that, I made every attempt to be around him.  We became very good friends and spent all of our time together (when we weren't dating each other's friends).  Then one day he told me he had feelings for me.  I wasn't sure if I felt the same.  We stopped hanging out after that.  Months went by, and I couldn't stand not seeing him.  I surprised him one day by visiting his house late one night.  He was up reading.  I make my feelings known to him, "I kissed him like he'd never been kissed before."!  We have 3 kids and have been happily married for 15 years now.  Jamie

My Mother played matchmaker. for Janet and my self I thought that it was love at first sight I was In love with her! I ask her to marry me I proposed at midnight in Elkport park and she said YES and we have been married in Augest28 will be 43years.  Jim

I met my husband in art class when I was 17. His friends knew we were too shy to talk the first time so they taped his hand to a table them asked me to to help them with their projects. When I got there they taped my hand too. We were literally stuck together and have been ever since. We just celebrated 20 years in October.  Krista

They always say your high school sweetheart will be your husband. Well we are not married yet. I had a crush on my current boyfriend when he was a freshmen and a senior. Well lets look at now me any my boyfriend will dating for two and a half years on February 19th. He just got out of a bad relationship and he called me and hung up. I called back and then no answer. Finally about 5 minutes later he called me and asked me out for a date. The longest, loving, caring relationship we both ever had. I can see many more years together. The best of all he treats my son like his own. He also helps me reach for my goals and I help him reach his.  Natalie

I met my wife at the new church that I had started to attend about 4 years ago. we had limited conversations due to work schedules and such. about 3 years ago I received an email from her saying that she would maybe like to talk to me more. We went out for lunch and talked about our good, bad and ugly things that have taken place in our lives. we hit it off. she has her own motorcycle and I figured that I should get one again after 20 years of not riding. She is my true love.  Marty

We went on a date early in our Senior year of highschool and at that time it didn't go much past that. Then I decided to go out for basket ball my senior year and she was on the girls team. It was through trips on the bus to away games I got to know Molly and we started to date. Fast forward 15 years we are married with 3 kids. Going out for basketball my senior year was the best decision I ever made! jamie

After being in an unhealthy relationship for a few years I wasn't really looking to date anyone, but everything happens for a reason. My friend and I wanted to go tubing over in Dorchester, Iowa. Neither of us knew how to get to the place to rent tubes so she had to call one of her friends that lived in Waukon. She called him and he told her to meet at Mulligan's parking lot in Waukon and he would give her directions from there. Long story short, we went to the parking lot and got directions. The guy giving us directions was with his cousin (my now boyfriend of three years). After tubing we decided to all get together and hang out. Joey and I have been inseperatble ever since that day. We just got our own place together a few months ago and are very happy. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. - Katie

I met my hubby at a supper club twenty sevenyears ago. We have been through a lot, but we've made it through both the good times and the bad. Love you Dennis to the moon and back! - Janet

I met my wife almost 11 years ago at a training for summer camp staff.  She was tall, blonde, tan, funny, and outgoing.  I liked her immediately.  Sadly, she didn't even notice me until thee days into a 6 day training.  And there were only 20 other people there!  The weather was cold so I would get her hot chocolate to help warm her up, build the camp fire at night and even made a fool of myself just to try to get her attention.  I was so smitten with Jennifer that I actually walked into a tree because I couldn't take my eyes off of her.  We were both still in college but only a couple hours away from one another.  I proposed 7 months later and we have been married for almost 8.  She has been my guiding light, and a wonderful mother to our 3 children.  She is as beautiful as the day I saw her and I'm so happy I was finally able to get her to notice.  Andrew

I met my boyfriend through 4-H. He was homeschooled at the time, then my freshman year of high school he joined my school, all through high school we were inseparable. We'd gone to proms & homecomings together & it was a year after we graduated & he called me & we talked for what felt like hours, before I knew it he moved in with me & 6 months later took me to Country Fest in Caddot & asked me to be his girlfriend! I couldn't ask for a better best friend! He's perfect!  Ashley

I met my fiance when we were freshman in high school. I had just moved to his school. He was definitely the first guy to stand out to me. But we never spoke to each other, only looked. Until the end of our sophomore year. We were in one class together, and got along so well. We started dating on May 23rd 2010. We've been together ever since. I don't know what I'd do without my high school sweetheart! On May 23rd of this year, we'll be married on our 4th year anniversary!

I love you, Jacob      Savana

I met my husband, Brian, 4 years ago at a high school dodge ball tournament. We played on opposite teams and when it was our turn to play eachother I ended up hitting him in the face with the ball! After the tournament I messaged him on Facebook saying that I was sorry. We started talking and exchanged numbers and our love grew instantly. Four years later we have a love stronger than ever all because of a little dodgeball!! -Kelsey

45 years ago I was working at Backbone Beach House. a girl I worked with introduced me to her brother. as he walked away my friend and I jumped on the counter to get another look at him. I said " he is sooo cute!" Just then he turns and winks at us. I said-"yuck, he thinks he's something else." over the next few years he kept asking me out and I would refuse. Finally I broke (I like him to think I felt sorry for him) We went out that summer we're celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Life has thrown some curve balls our way but it's only made our love stronger. A while back I was doing hospice care for a women in her final days. As I sat with her husband of 60+ years he told me their love story. I cried all the way home because we get so busy we forget to tell the ones we love what they mean to us. It reminded me of the song lyrics "It leaves me wishing for one more day with you"  Melanie

I was suppose to go out with my girl friends when one of them couldn't make it. Mary called to tell me and I said I'm going out anyway, I have a gut feeling I'm going to meet someone. I got to Brick City and Mary and her sister weren't there yet. Sitting at the bar alone a guy came up to me and asked if I'd eat dinner with him. I turned him down. Later Mary, Diane, and I were sitting at the bar talking when someone bought us a drink. I asked the bar tender and he pointed to Tim. I asked Mary if she knew him, no but I know the guy next to him. She went down and talked to Rich and sent Tim over to talk to me. Later he started to sing to me and when he asked for my number I said no. He wrote his number on a napkin that I have to this day. The next day I felt bad about not giving him my number and called him. After talking for awhile he was honest and told me he didn't remember my name. So I told him Jimmy, when I asked Tim to marry me I had Jimmy engraved on the inside. Boy did I get a look. The same as when I asked him to marry me in front of a large group at the fire station. That's a whole other story. Our first date Tim said God sent me a Angel, but he's wrong God sent me and the kids the Angel.  Konnie

I meet my wife Beth 12 years ago when I was serving in the armed forces in Norfolk, VA.  We meet through friends of ours.  One day we all decided to go to the local mini golf/go carts on our way back I had forgot my phone so I asked if some one wanted to go with me to go get it and she said she would....and that is were it all started!!  I had 2 years left in my enlistment.  So 2 years of long distance relationships and many hours on the phone was what happened.  It was hard!!  Now 12 years after that day we have been married for 10 of them and have 3 great kids!!  Love you Beth. -Mike

We dated briefly 11 years ago but parted as we were at different stages in our lives.  He lived 5 miles away from me but I only saw him about 2 times in that 11 years. One night I was stood up on a date so I posted on Facebook, "All dressed up with no place to go." He saw the message and remember by home phone number from 11 years back.  He called and asked where I wanted to go. We talked for 30 minutes without me even knowing who it was. Finally he disclosed that he saw my message and would be happy to take me wherever I wanted to go. Over the next 6 months, we talked daily just to say hi and stay connected as friends. Then finally he asked me on a date! He took me for a jeep ride through yellow river campground and we shared a pizza. I knew at that moment that it was destiny for us to be together. We have the same philosophy on life and share a lot of the same hobbies and interests.  He proposed on the 1 year anniversary of our re-connection. We will be married on April 5th, 2014. At 40 years old and never married, the man of  my dreams lived 5 miles away my whole life and it took facebook to connect us!    Kristy

I met my now husband almost 10 years ago.  We met through mutual friends, we were both in the right place at the right time. our friends were determined we were perfect for each other and needed to meet... the rest is history  We were instantly attracted to each other! We fell in love very fast and its only gotten better! We now have 3 amazing daughters together and couldnt be happier! Our love grows for each other every day and arent only best friends but soulmates!  Ashley

I was working on the assembly line at Scale Models, where my female co-workers were determined to set me up with someone. I saw a long-haired, bearded biker guy come through on a hiring tour and laughingly said, "I claim him!" Eventually we ended up working together (with some flirtation!), but I left a year later to pursue a teaching career. Eight years after that, we ran into each other at the Stadium. I wrote him a letter and received a phone call in return... the first of many. On February 11, 2014, we will celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary.  Robin

I met my husband in the fall of 1999.  We were at a football game and met through a friend.  She wanted to talk to "some cute guys from a different school." Being young and shy it took us 2 weeks to be able to track each other down again.  Once the communication started it never ended. Now 15 years later we will forever be high school sweethearts!  Married for soon to be 8 years and have 2 beautiful girls.  A night that will never be forgotten.  Ann

Just as I had given up on love, I went over to a friend of mines house who I hadn't seen forever. As the night started to wind down she called one of her guy friends over, who was reluctant to come, but showed up because she said she had a friend over. I was totally mean to him as he was getting on my nerves! We all sat there and talked and eventually he said he had to go and said "Well if you want you can give me a call" and rattled off his phone number. Luckily it was an easy one to remember. Later that night I got so bored I text him and he was stunned I actually did. He then asked me if he could take me out the next Friday night, I agreed. We have been together ever since...2 years and 5 months...an engagement ring and a bun in the oven. Of course...he still gets on my nerves but I wouldn't change it for anything. :) Brandi

My sister had picked me up from collge in Iowa City and we stopped at Mike's Bar to see her boyfriend.  Her friend asked my now husband to dance with me so that he could talk to my sister to break up with her.  I didn't know either one of these men.  When he did ask me to dance, we fit like a glove.  I was so thrilled.  Then, 2 women walked in and he left me standing in the middle of the room alone.  Said those were his neighbors and he had to go.  Talk about a burst bubble! I was crushed so went out in the car with my dog to wait for my sister.  After a little bit, he came out to the car and asked for my telephone number.  I gave it to him, I don't know why, should have told the jerk where to go, but I didn't.  Three months later, we were married and here we are, 40 years under our belt and hopefully many, many more!   Juanita

I met my husband 14 years ago at dance in Manchester called night storm. I went to the dance with friends and he happened to be there too. I knew one of his friends he was there with. We talked for a little while and went our separate ways. A slow song started to play and my friend said whoever finds him first get the dance with him. Luckily I was the one to find him and we danced the rest of the night away. He asked for my number at the end of the night and the rest is history!   Jill

I had just gotten out of a dead end relationship that had unfortunately lasted for 6 years. I wasn't really looking for a new relationship; however, my mom set me up on a blind date. I was reluctant and a little nervous about going but I did. It was one of those pivotal moments in my life. Today (7 1/2 years later), we are married and raising our 5 children together. I couldn't ask for a more caring and respectful person to spend the rest of my life with. I still get that little spark of exhileration every time he enters the room. I love him with all of my heart and will until death do us part.  Kelly
