PSTD Presentation

To: American Legion Members and All Veterans plus the Public at Large

Suicide has been focused on recently in the media and the number of cases have increased calling for a reaching out by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)  by the mental health and medical community to potential patients.

PTSD is not a new phenomenon but there is a definite cause and effect connection between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Suicide. The U. S. has had troops stationed worldwide and fought a number of engagements who return home on a daily basis who are in need of further medical treatment as they return to their communities and families. This is an “at risk” population and this presentation will inform signs to watch for in newly returning veterans.

A presentation will be made at 7:00 PM on Thursday June 28th at the Guttenberg Municipal Building at 502 South 1st Street by Tone(Antonette) Tom a Chaplain with the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA is on the for front of educating all of us about suicide prevention and the danger of lack of treatment of those suffering from PTSD and other mental health situations. All are welcomed to the presentation.
