Pooch Scooch

The third annual EARL Public Transit Pooch Scooch 5k Fun Run/Walk returns with furry fun for all. So, grab your pooch and get ready to scooch on Saturday, April 28th at 9 am at the shelter at Wold Park, better known as the skate park, on Sumner Street in Decorah. Bring your dog and run/walk with them, or, scooch with a pooch that needs a loving home! A dog is not required. Everyone is welcome, and the course is accessible to all mobility levels. EARL Public Transit, a program of Northeast Iowa Community Action, will use proceeds to benefit the transit crisis fund and the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa’s emergency medical fund.

New this year are a costume contest for humans and canines, as well as bobbing for hot dogs and an ice cream eating contest for the pooches after the run. “These are incredibly fun events for the whole family and support two great causes,” Sam Castro, Mobility Manager with EARL Public Transit, said. “The costume contest should be really fun because there are a lot of very creative dog parents out there!”

Returning again is EARL’s Stuff the Bus Food Drive. “The end of the school year means the loss of two meals a day for some children. This helps us provide nutritious, kid friendly food to help carry them through summer,” stated David Boss, NEICAC’s Director of Community Outreach & Development.
