Upcoming Summer 2017 Programs

Summer Hours: Tuesday – Saturday from 11am-4pm
Youth Trout Fishing Program - Sunday, June 4th at 12pm
Gary Siegwarth of Big Spring Trout Hatchery will lead a trout fishing program during Iowa’s free fishing weekend! Program begins at the Driftless Area Wetlands Centre followed by fishing at Bloody Run County Park. Fishing poles provided. Please register for this program. Age 5+

Wetland Explorers – Nature Tots - Every Wednesday from 10:00-11:00am (June 7-July 19)
Bring your young ones out for our wetland explorer program where we discover the wonders of nature through indoor and outdoor activities. Age Range: 2-5 yrs

Family Nature Days – Explore Together!
Thursdays on June 8th, July 6th & August 3rd from 9:00-11:30am
Looking for something different to do this summer with your kids and/or grandkids? We will take you out, guide you in exploring the wetlands and get you started with nature journaling. Pack a lunch and picnic in the pavilion after the activities. All ages.

Wild Wetlands - Summer Day Camps
Tuesday, June 20th for Grades K-3rd   &  Tuesday, July 18th for Grades 4th-6th
Mark your calendars for our summer day camps! We are excited to partner with Iowa State Extension & Outreach of Clayton County to offer an in depth exploration of wetland science! Registration available online at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/clayton/
Wetland Conservation Science and Youth Service Day - Thursday, June 22 from 1:00-3:00pm
Looking for community service hours? Learn about conservation science while you help with invasive species control and water quality monitoring in our wetlands. Ages 7th Grade & older.
Milkweed Seedballs & Prairie Wildflower Walk - Friday, June 23rd from 4:30-6:00pm
We are assisting Milkweed Matters with their efforts to make milkweed seedballs that will be tossed out along Iowa roadsides by RAGBRAI riders to improve monarch habitat. Join us for this Farmers Market program, which includes making seedballs and a guided prairie wildflower walk around the wetlands.

Campfire Critters: Family Nature Night - Friday, July 14th at 8:00pm
From bats to fireflies….join us as we explore the habits of animals found around the center at night. Stick around to roast marshmallows around the campfire. All ages are welcome!

Dino Day - Saturday, July 29th from 9:00am-12:00pm
Learn about prehistoric northeast Iowa. The event will include a fossil dig for kids, an atlatl throwing program by Michael Douglas, displays of a mammoth tooth and a Diplodocus thigh bone and other educational activities. Phil Burgess, a local geology expert, will talk about dinosaurs that roamed the Driftless Area. A great family event with dino-themed treats!
