Benefit Event

Eric Palmer Benefit
Saturday, April 8 at 5 PM - 9 PM
Waukon Banquet Center
612 Rossville Rd, Waukon, Iowa 52172

After a week of unexplainable headaches, severe enough to make him nauseous, Eric went to the clinic on Monday, November 21, 2016 to try to get some answers. A CAT scan and MRI revealed a mass on his brain. He was immediately sent to Mayo in La Crosse. Two days later, Eric had brain surgery to remove the tumor and the surgery was considered operationally complete. The next morning (Thanksgiving Day) Eric found he was unable to move the left side of his body.
Another round of CAT scans and MRIs revealed he’d suffered a stroke. He started intense physical therapy to regain mobility and the ability to complete basic daily tasks. Daily progresses in mobility enabled Eric to be transferred to swing bed care at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon. After another week of therapy Eric was able to return home on Dec. 5th.
Pathology results showed the tumor was a very aggressive form of cancer. On Dec. 19th, Eric began oral chemo and radiation treatments in Rochester. For 6 weeks, Eric stayed in Rochester during the week, and was able to go home on weekends. After a month at home, he will undergo further evaluation and another round of chemo, which is expected to last at least 6 months. It is unknown if a complete physical recovery will happen and how long his treatments will continue, as any lasting side effects could continue to reveal for years.
All proceeds from this benefit will go towards the heavy burden of medical expenses. Thank you in advance for your donations and supporting Eric, Stephanie, and their children as Eric travels the unknown road ahead of him.
Eric and his wife, Stephanie (Menne) live in rural Waukon where they operate a dairy farm with his dad, Greg & Marlene Palmer. They have 4 children: Madalyn (14), Emma (12), Keagan (9), and Sophia (6). Stephanie is the daughter of Richard & Kathy Menne of West Union.
